i actually did those by drybrushing boltgunmetal over a black basecoat and slathering GW sky blue ink over the whole blue area.. i'm not sure they still make that ink though, i've become a reaper/vallejo snob in the last couple of years :)

What ever, th eBasing is quite good, the blue-metal too (:P), gut you should try blacklining on your SM's.
