Crimson Fist Terminator Captain

Here we are again, This was my second attempt at highlighting armor after the Classic Dark Angel Squad Ive posted. Although I'm not 100% happy with the colour scheme, I'm quite pleased with the 'attempt' at highlighting and especialy the face which is easily one of the best Ive done. As with all the other models Ive posted, this also has an area were I could do with some advice, I seem tt have trouble getting a realistic good quality gold. Any advice would once again be appreciated. Don

Ah, I love to see the Crimson Fists :) The just have the most beautiful colors of all marines. My next marine army will be CR :) As to your model. The choice of colours is really good, just what I would use. The blends are good too. I think that the gold came out OK, only on the shield it is too flat in my opinion. But as someone said it is hard to paint metallic gold. Cheers!

Gold is hard to do eh.... I believe 'Eavy-metal style is to paint gold then do a wash of dark gold (either a darker colour, or gold mixed with black or purple or something). Then highlight with gold + light silver. Your armour highlights are pretty good but I think the blue would be more effective if the highlights were concentrated more towards the upward-facing edges. Lastly and most importantly, light all sides of the model when taking pictures. It will show your painting better and probably get you more views and better ratings!
