Blood Angels Terminator

My first mini for many years and my first submission! Painted this and a genestealer (also posted 143218) for friends as Christmas presents. As old school Space Hulk/Space Crusade players, it was a chance to reminisce. For those of you who are interested the base was scratch built with milliput plasticard and... the sieve from a tea strainer (yep, I'm English). The Blood Angels emblem was created in Illustrator and printed out, then glued onto the shoulder pad. i really liked this old Blood Angels logo compared to the current ones GW seems to favour. I'd be grateful for some constructive criticism and any advice on how to improve my painting.

Thank you for the feedback, guys. It's always good to know what people think. You are all right BTW. I felt that it needed a layer or so more highlighting (as Sanguinius said) and that the creases/joints needed to be darker as jinxed said. Next time round, I'll start darker and finish lighter! And Scoty, you are spot on about the ink. The shots were taken before varnishing - i'll be getting a good matt varnish in the New Year. Hopefully later posts won't have that tell-tale gleam!

I personally disagree with the reds needing more highlights, unless you want to whip out that Elf Fleshtone and mix it with your reds... I think it could use a lot more darker shades of red, going almost all the way to black, and perhaps some extreme highlights with your red mixed with some elf flesh. You could surely teach me a thing or two about making bases. :D

This is quite annoying. Ive just started getting back into painting aswell and also just started posting pictures on this site today and I'm not in the same class as you! I love the old school Blood Angel look and the tidy uncluttered paint job. (great idea with the emblem aswell) The only constructive critisism is the use of red ink (I assume) which gives those little annoying pools of Gloss in the recesses. A good quality mat varnish should give the same finish all over the model and really finish it of. Dont suppose you'd like to paint me a squad!
