Huron Blackheart - Space Marine Pirate Captain

I did this conversion years ago a little after the 2nd Ed Chaos Marine codex came out, my interpretation of him going by the fluff was that of a pirate captain rather than as a chaos follower. It brought to mind the idea of a motley crew of mismatched marine squads, kind of like marine harlequins in a way. For the colour scheme I came up with I wanted him in red following the background that his followers paint over their chapter markings with red. I also wanted to show a bit of tiger like pattern to show the 'tiger claws' original paint scheme, so the subtle purple trinagles on parts of his armour. As for the conversion you may ask, I started with the techmarine with hand scanner model. I removed his scanner arm and replaced it with a ork plastic powerclaw, this gave a great 'I have you now' look to the mini. I tried the look of the plastic vehicle heavy flamer on the back of the gauntlet, it was way too big. My solution was to seperate what I call the nozels from the pump, I used as a backpack a 1/35 WW2 flame thrower backpack, which I attached the pump section on the bottom. I then connected the two parts with some electrical spagetti tubing, it gave that reinforced pipeing look. The last step was the Hamadryad (whatever the hell that's supposed to be) me I coundl't work out what it was, so in the end decided I would make it a big macaw parot. I gots some pics and sculpted the bird out of milliput, I was pretty happy with the results considering it was my first sculpting effort. That's about it.

Very nice work, love how you used a tech marine as the base for the conversion, the parrot just completes it for me. 8D

That's pretty badass. I like him. Definately replace that abner. With your painting skill you can definately do something befitting him. That's definately a Norwegian Blue....beautiful plumage, ain't it? =)
