Ghazghkull Thraka

Painted up for a special character battle at my shop. Great mini, I loved painting this one. I had tried some confrontation orks before, and the greens I used for the skin came out terrible, so for him I bought the Vallejo Game color greens. Had to do some mixing since there's too much contrast between the greens, but I'm really happy with the results. Almost makes me want to do an ork army (just what I need, ANOTHER 40K army I'll never get around to painting :P ). The armor was done with a Tin Bitz base, boltgun then chainmail, then given some black and brown washes. All the other colors were done as normal then weathered with chainmail patches and a light drybrush. Horns were doen with delta ceramcoat browns, and came out great, I usually don't try to do the striations on the horns, but they really make a differance. The cow skull I tried using the reaper master series bones, which are a more realistic pallid grey color than GW bleached bone. Not sure how I like it, I know it's more of a "true" bone color, but when placed on top of a green ork in giant mechanikal armor I don't think realism counts, shoulda gone with a traditional brown/tan bone. Ah well, it doesn't ruin the model or anyhting.
