Possessed Cadian Colonel

Here is my first miniature that I'll be posting on CMoN! My name is Kristian, I'm 17 years old and I come from Finland. The miniature was made during this summer (2006), for a Finnish painting competition associated with the big roleplaying/miniature/cardgame etc. convention called RoPeCon. Luckily enough, I won the Sci-Fi category and the Overall prize. Im quite happy with it even though I know that it lacks some finishing touches. Oh well, I think you fellow hobbyists know what its like to be finishing a somewhat complicated/detailed miniature just a couple of hours before the competition starts! I got the idea from looking at the beautiful nurgle influenced miniatures by artists as Allan C. and Automaton. I went for a simple but hitting conversion by swapping the Lord of Nurgle to a Cadian Colonel. Then i came up with a very monochromatic colour scheme; that is highlighting different shades of grey to different shades of grey(!) and bringing the highlights to pure white at most places. I shaded it with with various inks and paints. The photos aren't as good as they should be. I apologize. Thank you (everybody) for inspiration. Greetings to fellow winners at RoPeCon.

Beauty in decay! Grey-to white higlights with inks and watered-down paints? Got to try that myself. I've been painting pictures with acrylics for years, while painting miniatures, but there are so many techniques I haven't even considered transferring to Miniature painting. Guess it takes a genious to notice, huh? Good work.

what surprise i used to note too much the mini when i like it but in this case ok it's a good job but i don't like it: the color schem, the light, the contrast and the univers not very original, i can't take you a 8 perhaps it's just my subjectiv idea (2 for my english ,sorry), i wait to see much!
