Lava Elemental - ME#6

First of all thanks to Jabberwocky for this nice miniature... thanks two times because the first batch of miniatures he sent was lost in space... :( This miniature seems easy to paint because is well defined and full of cracks so you will think it's easy to work with some drybrush and finish it in a couple of hours.. But.. if you want to capture the feeling of an HOT elemental you need to paint it with some extra care.. first of all start with a white base or your lighter color will not shine as they need to. Usually you will paint the shades in the deepest hollows and the lighter colors at the top of the various parts but this elemental is hot inside and probably cooler outside so we have to reverse the lights. So following thhis idea I have left the lighter colors inside of all the holes and shaded with darker colors the other parts After the primer I have painted everything using Vallejo Icy Yellow, a really light yellow color, then added some Vallejo golden Yellow and started to build the shades. Next colors was GW Blazing Orange, Vallejo Red, GW Scorched brown and Vallejo black. After a couple of corrections were the blending was too hard I have used a glaze of yellow ink to give everything an uniform shade and then highlighted the deepers hollow with some white. The base was a bit flat so I have added a couple of spheres and painted them like hot bubbles. Hope you like them, it was fun to paint :) Paolo

Stellar job on this one Paolo. You really captured the "hotness" of the lava. I am glad you enjoyed painting him!
