First attempt at a space marine

This is the sgt of my tactical squad as part of a 2500 point Salamanders force I am putting together. It is the first space marine I have ever painted, after some limited painting experience from 20 gretchin, and 8 blood axe commandos, I am finally starting to feel more comfortable painting and feel I am getting better

For a first try not bad. One thing I have to mention though. The fire on his knee is backwards. It might be a good idea to correct this before applying this theme to your unit.

After the tactical squad is done I am going with my librarian, chaplain, and techmarine since I am waiting on figures.. 10 terminators won on ebay, and my terminator captain and seargent and land raider on order. should be a good force

Good start... I have to disagree, since it sounds like you're palnning to game with the force, paint what you need to field 1500 points first (start with 2 troops and an HQ selection), then move on to painting specialty squads and more characters.
