little mermaid (concubine)

just after doing my first tabletop-minis, a friend gave to me a bunch of hasslefree-minis he himself didnt like to paint. so this was the very first time i worked on a metal-mini + i tried 2 paint flesh and make it seem somehow natural. here she is, the little mermaid right from the fairytale... ... after she got her legs! ;-)

The skin looks pretty smooth, and the hair is an interesting colour. Maybe just a smidge less orange-red for that would look a little more natural. I think the shine sort of suits the Little Mermaid story, but a lot of voters on Cool Mini really hate a gloss finish, which can be removed by using a matte varnish. I think the eyes are also bringing the score on this down, they seem very big and stark compared to the rest of the painting. Using a dark brown rather than black can look better on fair skinned types sometimes. I like the starfish. :->
