The most glaring problem with this guy is his skin. so...thin you inks ( don't even use games workshop's ink if you don't like this shiney look. I find watering down scorched brown does much beter than their "inks") highlight back over the inks with the base color of skin, then a smaller highlight with a lighter color. basic shading on anything is three steps (IMHO). Base coat a medium color. wash with a darker color (thinned with water paint the darker the better) Highlight back over with the base color, then a lighter color. remember the lighter tha color the smaller the highlight. GW has several colors that work well for this system. Boltgun/black/silver for metals, Brazen brass/ tin bitz/ gold for yellow metals. Bone white/graveyard earth or scorched brown/white for bones/teeth. try this out and you'll improve! remember, always lighten the area back up after washing it with ink, or else it'll just look dirty/shiney like ol' Bob here....does that help?
Any questions send me a note, I have been painting longer than you've been alive!...Man I'm old....
PS its not nice to "yell".....lol have a good one keep on brushing!
Well im not really sure about some of your color selections and placement. Why are the skulls metallic? Also it looks like you've left a good amount of the black primer exposed (like the pants and armour on the belly). You have a solid foundation for painting. I think you should also try to lighten the flesh on the raised parts like the nose, shoulders, cheeks, ect. Also, think more carefully about what color you're painting things. Skulls should typically be an off white. The teeth on the armour shouldnt really be off white should they? You're off to becoming a good painter. Just get a few things straightened out and you'll be set. Msg me if youd like some more advice and help.
