Pyrion

After some time of CMON (or Internet at all) abstinence i am happy to commit a piece once more... while the concept or better: some of the ingredients have been cooking in my mind (pun,PUN !!) for some time, it was a long and ardous road to completion... if you can bear with me, i´ll go into more detail: ever since i saw a certain picture of a real cool Chaos Warrior standing in front of flames (invariably Adrian Smith, he´s one of the very best) i always wanted to do something in the same mood, but no copy. This, combined with a yearlong envy concerning GW´s Archaon Mini (which made me search horse-minis for months and months without finding one even half as cool as Archaon´s steed). So: no prob, i thought, do it yourself; make it stand on all fours (like in a Frazetta painting i know) make it massive, give it an abundance of mane... the head i took from a GW Bretonnian horse, the rest is sculpted in magic sculpt (great stuff), the knight is mostly a jumble of various plastic pieces. if you are interested, i plan to post a pic with some in-Progress-shot right after this one . as for the paintjob and the setting: have you ever noticed how much fire and chaos have in common? both change, both have a tendency to destroy... so the idea came up to make the guy something of a Lord of Fire and Flame, burning everything as he goes, riding a glowing daemon horse. this also nicely incorporates the Spines on his back, making him something of a fallen angel with burnt-off wings spreading the fires of hell..... oh god, heretical thoughts, leave me, i want to be pure of mind again..... Deeply craving your thoughts and advice, i retreat now! Happy painting to all of you ; thanks beforehand!

Overall great. Love the banner insignia. The legs of the steed look a bit clunky, but not a major problem. Keep 'em coming!

Same comments as on the other picture, plus I have to comment on the horse - looks very richly toned. Love the posing of the character as well.
