Eldar Cobra Super Heavy Grav Tank (Alaitoc) right side

This is a resin tank kit from Forgeworld that I painted up in Alaitoc colours for a client. He requested that it be done up in the same alien camo scheme as the Eavy Metal ones, which was fine except that it just about completely obscured the hours of blending I did on the armour. Everything that could be construed as a gem, I painted up as a gem, and I spent considerable time making sure the blending on the bone accents was as clean and seamless as possible. In fact, anytime you work on a model this big, your blending becomes vitally important in order to give the model a proper sense of scale. Finally, I freehand painted a fireball yin-yang symbol on the left side, and a silhouette of a hand crackling with lighting energy on the right. I have to say that I was really happy with the way things turned out, even though it was an exhausting and time consuming project to take on.

Having done one of these, and having it take around 75 hours, I understand exactly what you went through. I too painted all the knobs as gems - i think there is almost a hundred of them. I like the GW lozenge pattern because it fills up the large open spaces, but like you say doesnt allow you to show off nice blending.
