I really love the old Ral Partha line of minis. The hat is really cool on this mini. The orange to red would make a great finish color for armor or lava because it has a wet shiny look. You may want to get some less shiny water based paints or use less clear coat spray. This is a good mini for gaming and I am envious of anyone with good Ral Partha minis.
