This is my first go at painting a Tau unit, as well as my first mini in about 3 years. I'm looking for suggestions and tips to improve my skill, and my buddy pointed me in your direction. Thanks in advance...
Understood, Helio, and I knew that going into this. The light was failing, and try as I might I couldn't get an indoor pic to turn out. There is some hackneyed line highlighting on it (first time I've done other than drybrush highlights). Thanks for the comments, though. I've been reading the articles and some of the forum stuff for pointers. As stated in another comment, I'm not looking to win a GD or the Slayer Sword- I just want to take my painting to another level. Cheers!
There's just not enough detail in the picture to give you anything above a 5. Since I paint Tau, I look for the highlights on the carapace armor, and how well the shading is in the depths - that's to me the important stuff. Looks like you have the depth shading, but that's all I can tell. Read up on lighting for mini photography and repost. I suspect it's solid tabletop, but we can't give tips from this angle and detail. The base could use some improvement. Bland.
