I'm very pleased with this. I feel like my painting is starting to improve again after standing still for quite a long time. I've realised how important contrast is, and have tried to make sure contrast is big enough on all areas. I've also experimented a bit with colour theory and using more realistic shading, for example using brown to shade the red, and putting some blue in the skin shadows. I also felt that this guy should look like he's been in a few scrapes, and put a mud effect along the bottom of the cloak, and painted som chinks in the armour. Please let me know what you think :)

You are getting there. The nice vibrant red works well with the Nmm. The points I like the most is the helmet, the colouring of the pants and most places of the Nmm. The rough appeal of the scratches and dirt works well. I'm not sure about the claws I think they could have got some more contrast to the joints and perhaps annother choice of colours, they look less natural than the rest of the paintjob. Another thing might be to choose another colour for the cloak, maybe a cream colour to further enhance the red of the pants. I think the gold works so well on the helmet, you could have made some more details in gold just to make the metal areas less uniform. The benefit of well contrasted areas doesn't show up as good in pictures as it does IRL. So I'm looking forward to seeing it live! :) All the best, Sven

This is some excellent NMM. The longer I look at it, the more convincing it becomes in my eyes. Makes me forget the things I don't like that much on that miniature. Yes, that's why I'm giving it a 9. Because I really like it. Keep up the great work! Cheers -Salvador
