Ilyad Games Skeleton Warrior

This is the very first Ilyad Games figure for me. It was fun, but all my NMM experimentations made life more 'interesting' than I needed it to be :-) To begin with, I brushed all sorts of contrasting colors over the miniature in a "wet on wet" technique with a 1/2 inch flat sable brush. Unlike drybrushing, I didn't get the granules of paint everywhere, just alternating smooth areas of color. Some areas had blue, others tan, others green or grey. This created an unusual base of colors from which to work, and some of those colors stil show through all the subsequent layers. I had done the copper petina many times before, but I had not tried to reflect that sane patina elsewhere on the figure, even the rags of clothes. In an attempt to make all the colors more cohesive, everything was eventually highlighted to some degree with GW rotting flesh. That created an interesting effect, which I tried to build on by washing and glazing other colors (blue-black, scab red, etc) onto other areas. This had some nice results on the brass parts of the armor, giving it even more of a tarnished look. I don't know how well this might work on something other than an undead or nurgle type of figure... I may have to test that out :-)
