DIANA VENATRIX
Venationes were the games in circus and amphytheatre where the hunters, venatores, fought against the beasts. The top of venattiones took under Commodus empire, fan of circus hunting, the emperor himself took delight to draw the bow from the imperal tribune in the circus. Diana, Jupiter`s and Latona`s daughter, was the virgin and nocturne goddes of the hunt, simbolized by the moon. Armed with bow and arrows, she appeared rounded by the turba Diana, her pack of hounds.
