Forsaken Contradiction

The Contradiction might be my favourite miniature of all time. It's rare to see a miniature expressing an emotion other than visceral rage. I also love the contrast between the anguished face and the honking big shotgun he carries - maybe that's the 'contradiction' after which he's named? Anyhow, it was a challenge painting his coat because painting any large area of the same colour is difficult for me. I tried to make it look like the light was coming from above him. Apart from that I tried to keep him quite dark and drab. The resin base is from Groundforge.

Beautiful piece of art. Really transcends the normal mini-fare.

It's so good to see something decent and skillfull done. Something with real atmosphere an character. Not the 872nd flamboyand Woody-Conversion or the 1986th unnecessary freehand in places nobody would wear those things in real life. The fixed light source makes it really great. It's that what makes even the good fantasy- or SF-mini-painters look like bunglers compared to the painters of historical minis. Cheers Dirk
