Chaos Duel: Slaanesh SM Lord vs Khornite SM Daemon Prince
Chaos Duel: Slaanesh Chaos Space Marine Lord vs Khornite Chaos Space Marine Daemon Prince This one won me the Open Category at the Vancouver Conflict in January 2004. This is by far the craziest thing I have ever created. I had this Daemon Prince and the Slaanesh Lord sitting around for months on my painting table and just had this feeling they could be used together. It came to me like movie short one day, the two facing off and suddenly the Slaanesh stead hurtling itself like a lightening bolt at the Daemon Prince rider an all. A Death struggle of writhing snake creature with a power warlord and a monstrous Daemon Prince locked in combat. It took about 40 hours to convert and required a lot of extra bitz for the Slaanesh Lord and a lot of Green stuff to get them joined in combat and properly wrapped around, etc. It was about another 80 hours to paint. Originally I was getting it completed for the Toronto Games Day, but never made it due to the East Coast blackout, which stranded me in Vancouver. It was a couple of days before and all I had to do was finish the Daemon Princes armour and fit is all together (4 pieces). But disappointed about not going I shelved the project. I finally finished it months later for the Vancouver Conflict that was held in January 2004. The Khornite armour was originally going to be the usual red, but after seeing a show about this air brush artist who paints flames on car I had to try that instead. I used a regular brush instead but really used the ideas of layering and translucence that I learned from the show. Used a lot of mediums, washes, and finely painted lines all layered over each other, blues, reds, oranges, white all together with purple, red, orange and yellow inks. It starts out looking like crap until you really build the dozens of layers. Lots of fun and turned out to be quite effective. Really gives a lot of movement and depth to the armour plates that can’t really be seen in the pics. Speaking of pics, this thing is nearly impossible to photographs, you just can’t get close and keep your depth of field deep enough. What a pain, but hopefully you get an idea of what going on. Ok enough blabbing on…… Thanks for looking! ;) See “Detail View” of The Daemon Prince HERE ID #100599 See “Detail View” of The Slaanesh Lord HERE ID #100600 Cheers, Darkblade [AAvH-Darkblade]
