White Scar Veteran Assault Sergeant

This is my first white space marine. I found that white is extremely difficult to do. The Thunder Hammer was taken from a terminator space marine and converted to fit this assault sergeant. First I had to hack off the original arm right under the shoulder pad. Then I chopped the Thunder Hammer arm right below the forearm. I pinned them together with a small gap left and filled in the rest with green stuff. The terminator honors on the chest were made with green stuff. The standard pole mount is also a conversion, notice how the red gaurd carries on around the pole mount. The tattoo on his head was made with green and blue micron pens and a little paint. The eldar head on the base has a dent in it to look like a Thunder Hammer bash. The standard was of course hand painted. I could use some ideas/suggestions on painting white space marines.

This is a really nice piece and white is a bitch to paint smoothly. The way I find easyest to paint white is to start with a black base coat ( I know a lot of people will disagree with this) then build the colour up with dry brushing using light greys, because it covers so well. Then use white ase the final highlight, It look very effective as you keep your dark areas dark and the purest white is on the highest points of the model. Thats just my opinion though.
